Parents Visa

The Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa (870) enables the parent of an Australia citizen, Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen to travel to Australia as many times as they want, for either 3 or 5 years. 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be the biological, legal, adoptive, stepparent, or parent-in-law, of an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident or New Zealand citizen.
  • You must be over 18 years old
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.

The Aged Parent Visa (804) allows you to stay in Australia permanently, as a Permanent Resident. This visa lets you travel to Australia and stay for as long as you like to visit family.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be over the age of 66 and ½ years
  • You must also have a child who is an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen
  • Be in Australia when you apply
  • You must also have a balance of your children living in Australia, and the promise of financial support from your children
  • You must meet the health and character requirements

The 103 Parent Visa is designed to enable parents of Australian citizens, Permanent Residents, and New Zealand citizens to live in Australia permanently. 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must have a child who is an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen
  • If you are a retiree, you do not need to meet certain technical eligibility tests
  • If you are not a retiree, you must have a balance of your children living in Australia, and the promise of financial support from your children
  • You may apply for this visa from in Australia, or outside of Australia
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.

The Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (173) enables parents of Australian citizens, Permanent Residents, and New Zealand citizens to live in Australia for up to 2 years. 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be the parent of an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen
  • You must have a balance of your children living in Australia, and the promise of financial support from your children
  • You may be inside or outside of Australia when applying for this visa
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.

The Contributory Parent (Permanent) Visa (143) enables parents of Australian citizens, Permanent Residents, and New Zealand citizens to live in Australia indefinitely.

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • If you already have the Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (173) you are eligible for this visa
  • If you have not received the Contributory Parent (Temporary) Visa (173) then you must meet the following criteria
  • You must be the parent of an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen
  • You must have a balance of your children living in Australia, and the promise of financial support from your children
  • You may be inside or outside of Australia when applying for this visa
  • If you are a retiree, you do not need to meet certain technical eligibility tests, including having the balance of your children in Australia
  • You will need a promise of financial security from your children
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.

The Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa (884) enables parents of Australian citizens, Permanent Residents, and New Zealand citizens to live in Australia for up to 2 years. 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be the parent of an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen
  • You must be over 66 & ½ years old
  • You must have a balance of your children living in Australia, and the promise of financial support from your children
  • You may be inside or outside of Australia when applying for this visa
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.

The Contributory Aged Parent (Permanent) Visa (864) enables parents of Australian citizens, Permanent Residents, and New Zealand citizens to live in Australia indefinitely. If you have not received the Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa (884) then you must meet the following criteria. 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be over 66 & ½ years old
  • You must be the parent of an Australian citizen, Permanent Resident, or New Zealand citizen
  • You must have a balance of your children living in Australia, and the promise of financial support from your children
  • You may be inside or outside of Australia when applying for this visa
  • If you are a retiree, you do not need to meet certain technical eligibility tests, including having the balance of your children in Australia
  • You will need a promise of financial security from your children
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.

The New Zealand Citizen Family Relationship (Temporary) Visa (461) allows a member of a New Zealand family unit, who is not a New Zealand citizen themself to live and work in Australia for up to 5 years. 

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • To be eligible for this visa, you must not be a New Zealand citizen
  • You must be a member of a family unit of a New Zealand citizen
  • You may be inside or outside of Australia when you apply for this visa
  • You may need health insurance whilst in Australia, as this visa does not let you enrol in Medicare, Australia’s public health system
  • You must meet the health and character requirements.
