Canada’s New Caregiver Program: A Direct Path to Permanent Residency

For eligible foreign carers, Canada is providing a previously unheard-of chance to apply for Canadian permanent residency (PR) as soon as they land in the country. The “Home Child Care Provider” and “Home Support Worker” pilot programs in Canada were discontinued in 2024 and are replaced with this new carer trial program. As the need for home care services increases nationwide, the 2025 Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots seek to streamline the immigration process by offering a direct path to permanent residence.

About the Program

In order to support and recruit carers who offer home care services, such as helping people who require extra assistance, helping people who are recuperating from illnesses or accidents, and more, the Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots were launched. In order to meet Canada’s increasing demand for home care workers, the program aims to draw in international carers. In addition to providing jobs in Canada, the new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots also provide a relatively simple route to permanent residence in Canada. Furthermore, the program would give those who qualify the chance to work in both private residences and medical facilities.

In contrast to other carer pilot programs, the new 2025 Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots will award permanent residency to qualified candidates as soon as they arrive in Canada, streamlining and speeding up the immigration application procedure. The immigration procedures for the “Home Support Worker” and “Home Child Care Provider” pilot programs were significantly longer in contrast.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the new caregiver pilot program, you must:

·       Secure a full-time job offer from a home care employer, such as an agency, healthcare institution, or a private employer seeking assistance with home care services.

·       Have recent and relevant work experience in the home care sector which will further demonstrate your ability to perform the job duties required of you.

·       Have at least Level 4 proficiency in either English or French on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) scale, ensuring effective communication with clients and employers.

·       Have a Canadian high school diploma or an equivalent credential from your country of residence.

The new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots in Canada offer a beneficial answer for the elderly Canadian population and those in need of extra support, as well as for candidates by streamlining the process of obtaining permanent residency.

You shouldn’t pass up this chance if you’re a carer hoping to obtain permanent residence in Canada. On March 31, 2025, the new Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots will open. We’ll provide you more information soon.
